On
my 17th birthday my party was a very sudden event. I had not thought
of what I wanted to do, and the day had rapidly approached. My mom had kept on
asking and asking and I had the same answer every time.
”
I don’t know, I can’t decide.” I lazily said.
Now as you can imagine
that did not slide well with my mom who always loved to have these things
planed out, it makes it less stressful is what she would always say but to me
having a clear plan can ruin the fun.
My Mom retorted “Boy you
are slower than molasses. It’s not that hard just text you friends to come over
and we can do what we always do.”
Now I wanted to do something new and exciting, I mean this
was the last birthday I had as a kid, but I was not so young that I could not
do anything on my own. So, I decided to be a little adventurous. I called up my
good friend Collin. Now me and him have a strange friendship were I only see
him once in a blue moon like he was a season of the year. Far apart but always familiar
and what we decided to do was to just drive all around central Ohio and see
what we could do. We had an amazing time I mean this was the first time I at
least had gone anywhere outside of Marysville without a family member. The sad
part is my birthdays time of year did not allow for a lot of the more fun activities,
but we had a nice lunch and saw a movie that interested us both and had just come
out that week “Black Panther” I remember after the movie we had a talk
about the day.
Collin
laughed “Man its funny we only see each other on our birthdays but we always
pick up where we left off.”
I
had A very simple answer “That’s because we have always been best friends and
we still are even if we don’t see each other for a while.”
After
that he took me home and we parted ways after hanging out at my house for a
while. And the story continued later that year at his birthday. Now for some
that seems weird or like we are not that close but its not that way at all. We
just know that the fastest way to loosing a friend is to wear them out for
yourself. We on the other hand are each other’s best friend when a friend is
needed.
Noah,
ReplyDeleteI like this story. It kind of teaches a lesson about friendship. Just because you do not hang out all the time, does not not mean that the connection is lost. I am the same way with a lot of my friends. When you said "Man its funny we only see each other on our birthdays but we always pick up where we left off.” That made me think of my best friend, Eve. She and I have been best friends since we were babies and we do not see each other often at all. Maybe once a year, but when we get together, it is as if we were never apart.
Nice work!
Abigail
Noah,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading about your best day. We have something in common when it comes to friends, my best friend Owen and I are the same way. I have always thought to myself that it stinks we do no see each other more but your comment on "its the fastest way to loosing a friend is to wear them out" hit me. I understand now why things are the way they are with Owen, so I thank you for teaching an old dog something new.
