In this chapter cicerones is talking about how all the special kids get to eat in the Canteen for lunch and she expresses her jealousy for it because she doesn't want to go back home to eat for lunch.She thinks that here mother will appreciate her more if she spent the whole day school (Cisneros 44).After Esperanza starts crying the lunch lady says she can stay for today but by then she was eating a cold sandwich by herself in the canteen.
Paragraph 2
Reading this chapter I noticed that the best long quote was in (Cisneros 44) when Esperanza was thinking about how her mom would act when she was away at school. She's thinking in her head,
Everyday at noon my chair would be empty.Where is my favorite daughter you would cry and when I got home finally at 3PM you would appreciate me.
I think this shows the relationship between Esperanza and her mom.
Paragraph 3
I compared this paragraph to The first paragraph (House on mango street),in that chapter Esperanza is talking about how the Nun was pointing at her house and basically saying "you live there?"in a condescending tone( Cisneros 5), which is the same thing that happened in this chapter when the Lunch-lady asked Esperanza to point at her house.
I like the direction your essay is going. Also, I like the theme that you uncovered. Your writing makes me want to understand more about your discovery, observation, and opinion on the topic.
